Misty Sobanski Named Recipient of the 2023 Women in Supply Chain Award

Misty Sobanski Named Recipient of the 2023 Women in Supply Chain Award

Helps Global CPG Producer Save Millions in Freight Bills and Supply Chain Services

Atlanta, GA — September 18, 2023 — IntelliTrans, a leader in global multimodal solutions for optimizing supply chain operations for bulk & break-bulk industries, announces that Misty Sobanski, Engagement Manager at IntelliTrans, is one of the winners of this year’s Women in Supply Chain Award from Food Logistics and Supply & Demand Chain Executive magazines. This award honors female supply chain leaders and executives whose accomplishments, mentorship and examples set a foundation for women in all levels of a company’s supply chain network. Misty was chosen for her work for one of IntelliTran’s biggest clients, a large, global CPG producer, helping the business save millions in freight bills by better auditing that eliminated late fees.

“I am so honored for being recognized for the work I have been doing to help save my client millions in their transport operations,” says Misty Sobanski, Engagement Manager at IntelliTrans. “Receiving the Women in the Supply Chain Award is a testament to the hard work of my team and the strength of our transportation solutions and services.”

“This year, we received over 400 submissions, the highest amount of applications not only for this award but also for all of our awards. What’s more, 118 of those applications were submitted by male counterparts, nominating their boss, co-worker or associate. Last year, that figure was just at 75. Also, this year, 39 women self-nominated, a tremendous uptick from last year’s award, which just saw 12 self-nominations. This shows progress. This shows hope that one day, we won’t need an award like this because men and women in the supply chain will be equal,” says Marina Mayer, Editor-in-Chief of Food Logistics and Supply & Demand Chain Executive. “While there’s still more work to be done, what we’re doing is working. From truck drivers to CEOs, what these winners are doing matters to the future of all supply chains.”

“Women have been making a significant impact in supply chain management, contributing to the growth and innovation of the supply chain industry. As more women join the supply chain workforce, they bring diverse perspectives that can help address complex supply chain problems and improve global supply chain operations. It is important that we empower, recognize, and elevate these achievements through initiatives like the Women in Supply Chain Award, as seen through the overwhelming response. Congratulations to all the winners, those who nominated others, and the bravery of those who nominated themselves,” adds Sarah Barnes-Humphrey, founder of the Let’s Talk Supply Chain podcast and Blended Pledge project, both exclusive sponsors of the Women in Supply Chain award.

As the Engagement Manager, Misty is responsible for building and maintaining customer relationships on-site at a Global Fortune 500 customer, overseeing the execution and delivery of SaaS-based technology and service offerings, which include but are not limited to bulk transportation procurement, shipment execution, driving problem resolution, freight invoice auditing, leading process improvements and delivering value by optimizing the customer’s transportation and supply chain network by leveraging company technology and maximizing employee utilization. Misty looked at the raw materials the company was shipping and found opportunities of $8M last year where they could save money. Per the client’s contract with IntelliTrans, IntelliTrans is only required to find $4.5M of savings – so Misty went above and beyond the contract.

Another example of what she does for the client is using load optimization software and a dashboard to see how much the client fills their tankers with raw materials. For some commodities, the client was only filling them to 80%. She suggested they fill them to at least 90%, which created savings of over $2M.

Karen is one of ten women chosen for this prestigious award; winners were selected based on their shining example of pushing the logistics and supply chain industry forward.

“This is truly an honor for Karen and IntelliTrans as she drives innovation, improves efficiency, reduces costs, betters customer service, and helps make the supply chain more sustainable and diverse for our clients,” says Brian Cupp, Director of Operations, IntelliTrans. “Not only is Karen invaluable for our customers, but she also likes to help her team develop their careers while also helping them manage customer challenges.”

“Wow,” says Karen Howlett, Operations Manager at IntelliTrans. “I am super honored, but I owe it all to this amazing company and the team of folks that help me do what I do best each day.”

Karen started at IntelliTrans as a part-timer but soon moved to oversee a team of thirty customer service reps full-time. Karen and her team have gotten very creative with routing trains so that the trains can provide service to their customers. They must analyze data and use detailed reports to determine the best methods to help customers and have successfully offered solutions to assist with such challenges from the carriers.

IntelliTrans has over 25 years of experience in the rail industry, providing managed rail transportation services to monitor, manage, and automate freight rail services. IntelliTrans Partners with Nexxiot, Solving Real-World Rail Freight Problems with IoT Data

IntelliTrans Partners with Nexxiot, Solving Real-World Rail Freight Problems with IoT Data

Clients Gain Visibility, Reduce Risk, and Improve Safety

Atlanta, GA — July 18, 2023 — IntelliTrans, a leader in global multimodal solutions for optimizing supply chain operations for bulk & break-bulk industries, announces a partnership with Nexxiot, a leader in Asset Intelligence for rail and intermodal. This partnership enhances IntelliTrans’ rail freight transportation management and visibility platforms with real-time asset-level monitoring. In time, this will deliver real-time network insights, location monitoring, and other IoT-sensing data that reduces risk and improves safety.

“As the leader in rail freight transportation management, many of our clients will benefit from Nexxiot’s asset intelligence and insight, giving them visibility to where their freight is at all times,” says Ken Sherman, President, IntelliTrans. “With our industry knowledge and expertise combined with real-time data from Nexxiot sensors, the rail industry gets something they have never had before – answers to real-world problems.”

“Our devices gather immediate insights into the status of rail assets so that shippers know what is happening within their rail freight network in real-time,” says Nexxiot CEO Stefan Kalmund. “With the IntelliTrans knowledge base and data gathering capabilities, our technology can do more than just track assets; they can mitigate risk, improve safety, and keep customers happy.”

IntelliTrans will collect data from the Nexxiot gateways and sensors on rail cars, helping clients extend the value of their visibility data to avoid risks, such as being able to see that a hatch is open, that brakes are engaged during movement, or a notable impact has occurred. These devices integrated into the IntelliTrans visibility platform will help keep rail shipments running smoothly.

“For example, by reading the sensors on brakes and hatches, we can see right away that something is happening, such as the railcar moving while the brake is engaged which can damage the wheel, helping identify issues as they occur, greatly increasing the safety of the railcar,” adds Sherman. “Or we can see if a hatch is open, which could lead to product quality becoming compromised or indicate that title transfer should occur from the shipper to the consignee. By knowing the hatch is open, we can better protect the car’s products, improving customer service and satisfaction.”

Nexxiot provides IoT devices that monitor freight railcars’ handbrakes, hatches, and doors. The sensors connect wirelessly to the Nexxiot Globehopper (cellular) gateway, sending data to IntelliTrans for processing and analytics that enhance decision-making capabilities. Using Nexxiot Asset Intelligence technology, IntelliTrans clients mitigate uncertainty and risk, helping them to meet the growing demand for safer, high-quality rail freight. Nexxiot’s Scope AI extracts data from Nexxiot tracking devices and provides an interactive conversational interface to answer shipment status queries, such as “Which rail car doors were opened at midnight in Knoxville?”

“This shared expertise of our devices and the IntelliTrans analytics means customers can know what is happening with their rail shipments in real-time,” adds Kalmund. “It’s a win-win for both our companies and an even bigger win for rail customers around the world.”
