IntelliTrans Global VMI LLC announced

ATLANTA, GA, April 1  2003  – IntelliTrans, LLC (“IntelliTrans”), an industry leader in providing supply chain products and services has acquired the Global VMI business of GE Plastics to market, deliver and provide complete vendor managed inventory (VMI) services worldwide. The business, to be conducted through a new company known as IntelliTrans Global VMI, LLC, will combine the VMI patents and technology of GEP with the customer service and information delivery capabilities of IntelliTrans. GE Plastics holds a minority equity interest in the new company.

IntelliTrans Global VMI automatically monitors physical inventory levels to provide 24x7 web-based alerts and reports for use by both the customer and supplier. The service includes accurate planning and forecasting tools that track inventory on site, en route and on order. As a standard option, the system can also provide automatic replenishment.

Manufacturers benefit from the system by reducing the risk of running out of stock and shutting down the production process. At the same time, the IntelliTrans Global VMI system reduces costs by minimizing the amount of inventory that needs to be ordered and maintained in stock, as well as eliminating the need for manual measurement.

Suppliers benefit because with IntelliTrans Global VMI, they will be given more accurate, consistent orders on a timely basis so they can better plan their own operations as well as better serve their customers. Rush orders, returns of overstocked goods, unnecessary demurrage charges can be virtually eliminated.

Richard M. Gerstein, CEO of IntelliTrans said “We are delighted that we can offer this important service to our customers worldwide. The integration of Global VMI into our TIV (Total Inventory Visibility) Control Tower suite of products and services, provides our customers with another important solution to the supply chain puzzle.”

Ken Sherman of GE Plastics added “We originally developed the patented technology for our own use, and quickly realized that it has global commercial application. We wanted to work with a company who could incorporate Global VMI into a broad range of supply chain solutions in order to maximize its effectiveness.”
