BridgePoint and IntelliTrans develop rail tracking service

July 9, 2003
- BridgePoint, Inc. a provider of global, multimode supply chain visibility and exception management solutions and IntelliTrans, LLC, an Atlanta-based supplier of rail management and supply chain information products and services, said they have signed an agreement aimed at creating a common rail industry visibility platform.

As part of the agreement, BridgePoint, a CSX subsidiary located in Cary, N.C., will transfer the resources and contracts of its rail business to IntelliTrans in-exchange for a minority equity interest in IntelliTrans.

The goal is to provide a single interface for customers to obtain transit information over the entire rail network. The solution will have the ability to offer network-wide customer views of rail inventory, industry-wide problem resolution and a single point of customer service.

The result for rail customers would be the ability to access a single, common solution that enables tracking, management and coordination of interline rail movements, regardless of which carrier is in control of the shipment, the companies said. Customers would have a single way to conduct business with railroads throughout an entire enterprise, regardless of which carrier serves a shipping location, just like trucks.
